How to Set Up Microsoft XP
- 1). Install your Microsoft Windows XP by inserting the installation CD into the disc drive and following the onscreen prompts. Choose the language you prefer during the installation. XP does not offer the ability to select more than one language or switch between languages.
- 2). Configure your network settings by clicking the "Start" button, then "Connect to", then "Show all networks". This will open a Network Connections window which offers the choice of "Dial Up Connections" or "High Speed Connections". Select the connection you desire, then the New Connection Wizard will open and guide you through the setup process.
- 3). Activate your Windows XP software so that it is verified as original and not a counterfeit. Connect the computer to the Internet via your network connection. After you connect to the Internet, click the "Start" button then select "All Programs" and choose "Activate Windows".
- 4). Click "Yes" then "Next" when the new window opens, and this will open the "Register with Microsoft page". Click the button next to "Yes, let's activate Windows over the Internet now" and choose "Next".
- 5). Click the button next to "Yes I want to register and activate Windows at the same time", then click "Next." Enter your registration information in the new window. Select the "Next" button and allow the computer to submit your information.
- 6). Create user accounts by selecting the "Start" button and then choosing "Control Panel". Under "pick a category", choose "User Account" then select "Create a New Account". Name the new account and choose a password, then click "Ok" to create.
