    • 1). Check the law to confirm that the misdemeanor you wish to expunge meets the legal requirements. Wisconsin law permits expungements of misdemeanors committed while under the age of 25 if you successfully complete the sentence. In other cases, upon reaching the age of 17, you can expunge any juvenile adjudications (including misdemeanors).

    • 2). Gather the the docket number and the names of the parties in the case. This information is necessary to identity the case that will be expunged. This information will be available from the clerk of courts in the jurisdiction where the criminal trial was held.

    • 3). Petition the court for expungement. You must submit a form, available from the clerk of the court in the Wisconsin county where the misdemeanor was adjudicated. Submit the related court filing fee.

    • 4). Wait for a hearing. The court will set a date for a hearing. Be prepared to show that you meet the applicable conditions for the expungement.

    • 5). Wait for the disposition from the court. The judge will make a decision in your case and communicate it in writing. If your record is ordered to be expunged, the court clerk will seal the court documents relating to the misdemeanor.
