Types of Bikes
Well before I try to persuade you to purchase a comfort bike we must first learn about the many different types of bikes in this modern time.
To begin with lets start with a real popular type of bike called a road bike.
A road bike is a bike that is usually made from a really light weight material such as aluminum.
or the new material called carbon fiber.
These bikes have really narrow wheels, again since it is a road bike it does not require much surface due to not being off road capable.
These bikes are usually used in long distance bike rides such as Tour De France.
These bikes are also very expensive ranging any where from $300 to thousands of dollars.
So if you are into long distance smooth rides than this is the bike for you.
So what if you are more of a "off road type" type of person you ask? Well than a mountain bike is the choice for you! A mountain bike unlike a road bike is more bulkier.
It is build up on a rigid frame built to support the intense trials and bumps one may put it through.
It has wide wheels with very good traction so that it may grasp every bit of the trail.
It's like teeth eating and tearing through the dirt so to speak.
These bikes as their name states are made for the mountains, which is where you should take these bikes so you can bring out their full potential.
With that said their pros drastically decline on flat surfaces making for an almost terrible experience on long distance travels.
OK so what if you want the long distance smooth riding of a road bike but the ruggedness of a mountain bike? Well you need to look into a new type of bike, a hybrid.
A hybrid bike is a great choice for people who cannot make up their minds, it is also cheaper.
It combines the light weight frame with the bulky one from a mountain bike to produce a mid weight frame, as well as mid size tires.
But sadly it has its cons, being a hybrid it excels at neither a road or mountain bike.
This means that for what ever you may need off roading, long distance riding, this bike is never going to be as good as the real thing.
But its up to you and how you want to ride.
But before you choose let me give a idea for my next article, my personal favorite bike, a comfort bike.
