• The North Las Vegas Desert Demonstration Gardens offer a chance for visitors to see over 75 native plant species in a lush, seasonal environment. The aim in turning an acre of turf into an eco-friendly garden is to help people understand the importance of water conservation in a desert landscape. The gardens have a walking path and a seating area. Entry is free, and the gardens are open every day of the week.

Freedom Park

• Freedom Park is situated north of the Desert Pines golf club off the Veteran's Memorial Highway. The park covers 68 acres and features many free attractions including picnic areas, multiple steel skateboarding ramps, four playgrounds, walking and jogging paths and three soccer fields. It is open every day between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m.

Kiel Ranch

• Kiel Ranch is situated near the intersection of Commerce Street and Carey Avenue. It was settled in 1855 by Mormons and turned into a rand by Conrad Kiel in the late 1880s. The ranch is home to one of the oldest buildings in Nevada --- Adobe House. During the 1940s, the ranch was turned into Boulderado Dude Ranch by the Losee family and became a party venue for celebrities. The city took ownership of it in 1976. Kiel Ranch is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Nellis Meadows Park

• Nellis Meadows Park is situated adjacent to the Nellis Air Force Base on the intersection between East Cheyenne Avenue and North Nellis Boulevard. The park has a variety of facilities that are free to use including playing fields, picnic areas, volleyball courts, walking courses, playgrounds and a horseshoe pit.
