How to Configure a Linksys Eg24m
- 1). Connect the included serial cable from the back of the Linksys EG24M switch to the serial/COM port on your computer.
- 2). Double-click on the icon for your terminal software application such as Hyperterminal, PuTTy or Secure CRT.
- 3). Plug in the EG24M to turn it on. When the switch finishes the boot cycle, a login prompt will appear. Enter "admin" as the user name and "123456" as the password. Press the "Enter" key.
- 4). Press the "Up" or "Down" arrow keys to highlight "Basic Management" and then press "Enter."
- 5). Press the "Down" arrow key until "System Name" is highlighted and press "Enter." Type in a new system name and press "Enter" again.
- 6). Press the "Down" arrow key until "admin Password" is highlighted and press "Enter." Type in the old password "123456" (without quotes) and press "Enter." Type a new password of your choosing and press "Enter." Retype the password to confirm and press "Enter."
- 7). Press "Esc" to return to the main setup menu. Press the "Down" arrow key until "Advanced Management" is highlighted. Press "Enter."
- 8). Press the "Down" arrow key until "L2 switching database" is highlighted. Press "Enter." In the next menu, press the "Down" arrow key until "VLAN Perspective" is highlighted and press "Enter."
- 9). Press "Shift" and "+" at the same time to create a new VLAN. Press "Enter" and type in a new VLAN ID, which can be any number from 1 to 4094. Press "Enter."

Press "Esc", then "Shift" and then "+" to enter the "Port Options" screen. - 11
Press the "Down" arrow key to highlight a port you want to add to the new VLAN and press "Enter" to select the port. Repeat this process for each port you want to add to the new VLAN. Press "Esc" when you are finished.
