If you're planning a Little Mermaid birthday party for a child or just want an Ariel theme party, you don't have to settle for boring "pin the tail on the mermaid" games. There are plenty of original, fun party games for an Ariel party that will surprise your guests and make your party memorable. - Split the party guests into two teams and have a "seashell" relay race. Use large pasta seashells to transport "sea water" from one end of the room to another. Teams race back and forth using the shell as a scoop to move the water across the room. If they go too fast they can spill it, but if they go too slowly the other team will win.
- Before the party, make a jellyfish by taping eight streamer or string "tentacles" to the bottom of a balloon. This game is a lot like "hot potato." Have guests stand in a large circle while you play "Under the sea" or "Kiss the Girl" from The Little Mermaid. When the music stops, whoever is holding the jellyfish is stung. If it's up in the air when the music stops, everyone must freeze and whoever it lands on is stung, and out of the game.
- This game is wet, and should be reserved for an outdoor party. It's also non competitive, and works well for very small children. Place treasures in small balloons, like seashell necklaces, small plastic sea animal toys, key chains, play rings and clip-on earrings. Blow up each balloon and float them all in a plastic "treasure chest" storage box. When each child's turn comes, they get to pick a balloon from the chest and pop it to reveal their prize.
