How to Hang a Football Jersey
- 1). Lay your jersey on a flat surface and measure it with a tape measure. Obtain the length by measuring from the top of the shoulders to the bottom edge of the jersey; measure the width from the beginning of each arm socket.
- 2). Purchase a jersey display case or shadow box frame with a glass or clear acrylic face to use for your jersey from a brick-and-mortar or online sports memorabilia shop. Use the measurements you obtained in Step 1 to determine what size case you need. Allow for at least 1 inch of space on the top and both sides of the jersey. Purchase a foam backing board at the same time you purchase the case.
- 3). Lay the jersey flat on the mat board that came with the frame. Use scissors to cut the foam backing board to the shape of your jersey, about 1/2 inch less around on all sides. Insert the backing board into the jersey carefully so as not to damage the fabric.
- 4). Use a sewing needle and cotton thread (the same color as the main color of the football jersey) and attach the jersey to the backing board. Place a couple of stitches 1 inch apart, then skip about 4 inches and put another two stitches 1 inch apart. Repeat this until the jersey is attached to the board all the way around.
- 5). Place the jersey in the display case. Determine where you wish to hang the case.
- 6). Attach double-sided adhesive tape on the back edges of the display case in several strategic locations. Line the entire edge of the case if it is particularly heavy.
- 7). Remove the backing from the double-sided tape and hang the display case on the wall. Adjust the jersey, if necessary.
