The Best Home Exercise Equipment for the Thighs

104 27
    • One of the areas on the body that women usually wish they could improve is their thighs. This is why many companies have developed home equipment products targeted at women to help them tone up and tighten their thighs. Some of these work well, and some of them don't really do what they promise to. However, there are still many good options to choose from, and depending on how much money and effort you are willing to put in, there is a piece of home exercise equipment for you.

    Bowflex TreadClimber

    • You can target and firm up your thigh muscles all you want, but if you have a layer of fat covering it up, you'll have nothing to show for it. A common misconception about working out is that you can burn off the fat in a specific area by targeting the muscles in that area. The truth is that you can't target specific areas for weight loss; you need to burn the fat off your entire body as well if you want to remove it from a certain spot. If you need to burn off a decent amount of fat and want some firmer legs and thighs, then the Bowflex Treadclimber is a great option for you. There are several types, but they basically are all treadmills with two separate stepping areas for each foot that move up and down to simulate climbing up a set of stairs. The TreadClimber reduces the impact on your joints while providing you a great amount of resistance to tone up your thigh and leg muscles, improve cardiovascular health and shed off some fat. The downsides to this product are that it is expensive and takes up a fair amount of space.

    ThighMaster

    • The ThighMaster is fairly cheap and simple. It works out the outer and inner thighs, which are hard areas to specifically target with other pieces of home gym equipment. The ThighMaster is "V" shaped, with a spot to place against your knees on both ends. It provides resistance when you push it together and pull it apart to work both your inner and outer thighs. It's cheap, easy, portable and you can use it while sitting in a chair watching TV or reading a book. The downside is that it doesn't provide heavier resistance, and it doesn't really work the larger muscles in your legs.

    Elastic Bands

    • Elastic bands are a favorite among fitness freaks because they are such a diverse and effective workout tool. One of the great things that you can do with high quality elastic bands is remove the handle and attach an ankle strap. With an ankle strap, you can do nearly any leg exercise that you could do in a gym. A set of adjustable elastic bands with an ankle strap provide enough resistance for you to build up a good amount of toned muscle. Some good thigh exercises with elastic bands are leg abductions, leg adductions and resisted lunges. The only downside to elastic bands is that finding the right amount of resistance for an exercise and then adjusting the bands to that resistance can be a hassle sometimes.
