What is The Big Chicken
Question: What is The Big Chicken
When I first moved to Marietta in 1996, I called a local store to get directions. The person on the other end of the line said "The Big Chicken" and hung up. As an outsider to Atlanta, I had no idea what this mysterious comment meant.
So, what is The Big Chicken?
Answer:
The Big Chicken is a landmark in Marietta, a northern suburb of Atlanta. It is exactly what is sounds like, a giant chicken.
The towering, barn-like chicken houses at KFC restaurant at the corner of Cobb Parkway and the 120 Loop. It was constructed in 1963 as an advertising technique. The structure has moving eyes and a beak that opens and closes.
