How to Make a Fairy Wreath Headpiece
- 1). Cut a piece of floral tape about 4 inches long.
- 2). Wrap the covered floral wire around the front of the forehead and straight around to the back of your head. Cut the excess wire, leaving a one-inch overlap. Place the piece of floral tape around the overlapping wires, wrapping the tape until the two ends of wire are securely attached. You want the wire frame to fit your head snug, but not too tight. You may need the help of another person to complete this step. Remove the wire frame and place it on your workspace.
- 3). Trim your silk flower and leaf stems to about 2 inches long using a wire cutter. Use pastel colors, such as pink or lavender, and flowers, such as roses, carnations or candytufts. Cut several pieces of floral tape about 3 inches long. Cut one piece of tape for each flower or leaf that you're attaching. Use at least 15 medium-sized flowers and leaves to cover the frame.
- 4). Place the stem of a flower onto the taped area on the wire frame and wrap a piece of tape around the stem to the wire to secure. Place a leaf, or sets of leaves about an inch or so away from the flower, wrapping tape around the stems of the leaves to secure to the wire. Repeat these steps to attach the flowers and leaves around the entire wire circle. You can choose to fill the fairy wreath with flowers and leaves, or leave some space in between.
- 5). Cut several pieces of floral tape about 4 inches long and wrap the pieces of tape around any exposed wire areas to cover the wire and add more stability to the wreath headpiece.
- 6). Cut two decorative ribbons to add to the fairy wreath. Use unwired organza ribbons for shimmer, or satin. Cut the ribbons about 14 inches long.
- 7). Tie the 14-inch ribbons to each side of the circlet. Tie the end in a double knot to secure, and let the ribbons dangle freely.
