How to Convert ATX to AT Power Cable
- 1). Back up any important files if possible before attempting this or any repair procedure.
- 2). Power down the computer and disconnect the power cable from the back of the computer. Open the case and connect the anti-static wrist strap to a bare metal section of the case.
- 3). Disconnect the existing AT power supply by disconnecting all of the power connections from the motherboard, fans, and drives. Disconnect the power switch connectors from the back of the power switch by pulling the connectors off the tabs.
- 4). Remove the power supply by removing the four screws that hold it in the case and disconnecting any retaining brackets that may be used to hold it in place.
- 5). Install the new ATX power supply into the case using the same mounting hardware and screws that the old AT power supply was attached with.
- 6). Connect power leads to the fans and drives in the same manner they were connected with the old power supply.
- 7). Attach the ATX to AT power adapter to the 20-pin portion of the 20+4 motherboard power connector.
- 8). Attach the P8 and P9 connectors to the motherboard where they were connected on the old power supply so that the black wires are next to each other. This is normally the only way they will attach.
- 9). Connect the power switch leads to the power switch by pushing the connectors onto the switch where the connectors were from the old power supply.

Ensure the voltage switch on the back of the power supply is set to the local voltage, typically 110V. Replace the case cover and connect power to the system.
