How to Make a USB Networking Cable
- 1). Cut a section of data cable to the desired length using the wire cutters.
- 2). Strip about an inch of the outer jacket insulation from each end of the data cable and then strip about a quarter-inch from the end of each inner conductor.
- 3). Twist the stranded ends of each individual conductor to prevent them from getting tangled together while soldering and to make attaching them to the solder connectors easier.
- 4). Place the solder connectors that are going to be used into the helping hands solder aid so that the solder ends of the connectors are exposed.
- 5). Solder one conductor to Pin 1 on each connector. Repeat for pins 2, 3, and 4.
- 6). Attach the plastic hoods to the cable.
