• Trapezohedrons are among the rarest and most expensive components in “Final Fantasy XIII.” They can be purchased from the R&D Depot for 2,000,000 gil, or obtained by killing a few specific monsters. Building any of the six ultimate Tier 3 weapons requires at least one trapezohedron, making this item one of the most sought-after in the game.
  
  

Item Drops

• “Farming” specific enemies can eventually produce enough trapezohedrons. The Adamantoise and related Adamantortoise and Long Gui monsters have about a one percent chance of dropping a trapezohedron when killed. You usually need to kill large numbers of these creatures to receive just one of these rare items. However, this option may work for players who don't have enough gil to buy the component outright.
  
  

Trapezohedron Exploit

• Disassembling specific high-level weapons can produce more trapezohedrons than you originally used to make them. You need at least one trapezohedron to start with, plus an existing ultimate weapon, such as the Shamanic Spear, Belladonna Wand, Kain's Lance or Nirvana. Upgrade this weapon fully, including using the trapezohedron on it, then dismantle the weapon. You should receive an assortment of components, including three trapezohedrons.
  
  

Considerations

• While less expensive than buying trapezohedrons outright, the disassembly exploit still uses large amounts of gil, since you must upgrade the weapon completely before you take it apart. This technique works well only for players with fairly advanced games. Farming monsters is a less expensive and more reliable technique for players with less gil available, but takes significant amounts of time.
