    Farmer's Markets

    • There's a farmer's market hosted by a neighborhood in Los Angeles every day. This will give you the perfect opportunity to sample various foods and get an idea of what your date's culinary preference. The farmer's market on West Third Street has been delighting locals and tourists alike for the last 75 plus years. In addition to have the freshest produce from local farms, they have a variety of fabulous restaurants. Have your choice of Bryan's Pit Barbecue, China Depot, Deano's Gourmet Pizza, and the famed Du-par's Restaurant. Other farmer's markets are located in Santa Monica, Los Feliz, Culver City and West Hollywood to name a few (see Resources below).

    Movies

    • Los Angeles is home to numerous historic movie theaters. Have a date much like you would have 40 years ago. The El Capitan Theatre, located on Hollywood Boulevard, is a testament to gorgeous East Indian and Spanish Colonial design. Catch a movie and a milkshake afterward at the Walt Disney Soda Fountain.

Films produced before the "talkies" are rarely played anymore. But at the Silent Movie Theatre you check out the precursors to the films of today. In addition, Grauman's Chinese Theatre is considered one of the most famous movie theaters in the world. View the abundant famous hands that have graced its sidewalks.

    The Outdoors

    • Leave the smog and traffic behind and experience the outdoors. Topanga Canyon is the perfect place to have breakfast and hike the trails. Topanga's small artist community, in the hills of Los Angeles, gives hikers fantastic views and wonderful cozy eateries to try. Even Woodie Guthie enjoyed the bohemian atmosphere of this artist colony. If you want enjoy the ocean's breeze, wander around Venice Beach. Both of you can sample street vendor food or people watch at Mao's Kitchen, Cafe Brazil or nearby Tito's Tacos. You can rent surfboards and try the waves or journey over to Santa Monica Pier for some amusement park fun.

Tips for Having a Good Date

    • Los Angeles is truly massive and traffic is always clogged somewhere along the way. Choose one location for your date. A lot of driving around can make the date stressful. Make reservations at high-end restaurants. Many of them fill up fast, so give yourself a couple of days. If you go without a reservation, you can always grab a table at the bar, but the later you go the more crowded it will be.
