Even before the Kindle came on the market there were readers out there.
Most people thought because of the ease and affordability of the Kindle that the market would change, well it has but not in the way people had thought.
A lot of the features from the Kindle 2 have been repeated in the Kindle 3 like free 3G across 100 countries, cross platform sharing; free 3G to the Kindle store, centered features, 60 second book download and social networking.
The Kindle 3 is a more effective reader than previous version whether color or not.
It is very easy to use and is light weight and very slim for easy handling.
Even though the screen size has been reduced to 6 inches this e-reader still packs a nice punch.
The Kindle is also sporting 3G WiFi and is coupled with a memory range of 4GB with the ability to hold up to 3500 books.
There is the Augen 7-inch E-reader that sports the text to speech technology, it also has the color screen, WiFi, this unit can also download e-books, but not as easy.
You can surf the web and let it read the book to you.
The 7 inch SkyTex color E-reader and media play, is on the market and making a name for itself.
If you get tired of reading your e-book you can always just listen to some music.
This little gem reads many different formats as well.
It can read TXT, PDF, and Mobi.
It also sports a nice audio and video surprise by being compatible with MP4, MP3, 3GP, and a whole lot more.
Sony has a few different readers; the issue with Sony is, instead of trying to come up with a reader on its own they have followed in the footsteps of the Kindle from its inception.
Sony has developed some nice e-readers but the problem is they are so closely related to the Kindle they are hardly worth mentioning, But I will.

We can't forget the Pandigital 7 inch color 1GB Android tablet reader, this one does have a color screen, music, built in memory.
A little bulky though.

So for the purpose of compatibility and versatility, hands down, then Kindle 3 by far is were I would invest my hard earned dollars.
