How to Disable Autoplay for a CD

    • 1). Click on the "Start" menu icon located on the bottom left portion of your computer's screen.

    • 2). Click on the search box located at the bottom of the "Start" menu, enter "gpedit.msc" (without quotes), and press "Enter."

    • 3). Click on the "Administrative Templates" folder icon located on the left menu pane. Select "Windows Components" and choose "AutoPlay Policies" from the menu selections.

    • 4). Highlight "Turn off Autoplay" and press "Enter" on your keyboard. Click on the drop-box menu and choose whether you wish to disable the Autoplay feature on all drives or only removable media and CD-ROM drives connected to your system.

    • 5). Click on the "Disabled" toggle button located on the top left corner of the dialog box. Click on the "OK" button when finished. Restart your computer in order for the changes to the Autoplay feature to take effect.
