McKinney Campground, Cartersville, Georgia
About.com Rating
I found out about this campground through word-of-mouth and Internet research. I RV camped there in January 2007.
Describe your camping trip:
The campground is one of several situated around Lake Allatoona,in north Georgia. It has over 100 sites, most with pleasant lake views and nestled among picturesque trees.
Pros: Our site, like most around the lake, was gorgeous. Lots of deer and other harmless wildlife abound, and there are more photo opportunities than one normally finds at RV campgrounds.
The sites vary in degrees of privacy and size, so choosing one for your particular rig is important before attempting to pull in.
Cons: Our single complaint with this and other Army Corps managed campgrounds is management. Some of the park rangers and civilian attendants give an air of bare tolerance for campers. The parks are managed well, from a conservation standpoint, but extremely poor from a customer service and even business perspective.
Nearby attractions: Lake Allatoona along with wooded hiking trails. Minutes from Atlanta and all the attractions that entails.
Further comments:
We are largely pleased with our camping experiences at this campground, though we wish a more customer oriented business approach was in effect instead of making campers feel like intruders. Two very grouchy camp attendants made this even worse on our most recent visit, leading us to wonder why they even bothered purchasing an RV in the first place, if their only use for it was to sit in an office all day and gripe and complain.
