Sandals puts sizzle in your step

Think women's footwear is all about platforms, wedges and espadrilles right now?

Not so fast. In sync with the sizzling season is summer's hottest shoe: flat sandals. We're not talking flip-flops, even though that laid-back, lazy shoe is perennially popular. A vast variety of flats is easy on the feet and dressy, too - proving that less is best.

There's even a new word for those who have embraced the cool look: "sandalistas."

"It really is about a flat sandal this summer," says Ken Downing, Neiman Marcus fashion director.

Downing says the style is a solid foundation for summer's popular bohemian looks, which include wide-legged pants in lightweight fabrics, longer skirts and floor-length maxi dresses.

Of the latter he warns: "A maxi skirt or dress does not look right with a high heel." And if he spots a woman wearing such, he says, "I will chase her down and steal her shoes."

Downing says flat sandals adorned with stones, glitter, ribbons, ruffles, flowers and pearls - or a mash-up - flawlessly capture "the boho-chic spirit" of summer, a look often described as romantically unconventional, individual and free-spirited. Garments are loose and flowing, earthy and often layered. Now imagine on your feet sandals that boho-loving celebs such as Sienna Miller, Kate Moss and Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen would wear.

"Summer's flats are embellished with coins that recall that gypsy spirit. They're studded for a rock 'n' roll vibe and, for a bit of a gladiator attitude, there's the flat sandal

with the ankle wrap," Downing says.

Andrea Praet, senior trend director for the New York fashion-forecasting firm Stylesight, says ankle treatment, the new erogenous zone, is getting front-and-center attention with strap details, proportions and cuffs.

"A lot of detail is being paid to the ankle as of late," Praet says. "Designers are incorporating delicate chains and smooth-plated metal for what resembles ankle jewelry."

The sandal trend includes cleaner designs in neutral colors as well as Crayola brights, she adds. And hardware is more discreet in darker finishes.

"Texture is key," she says. "We're seeing lots of open construction, such as laser-cut patterns, braided details and embellishment that incorporates indigenous craft elements."

Colleen Sherin, senior fashion director at Saks Fifth Avenue headquarters in New York, cautions that though wearing flats is fine for casual dressing, the shoe may not be appropriate for work.

"It depends on what kind of industry you're in," Sherin says. "If you're in a creative industry, it's perfectly acceptable to wear flats with a cropped trouser or a longer skirt or dress."

Sherin says if you're game for office sandals, choose a metallic flat with embellishment. "It gives the style a dress-up attitude and doesn't look like you're going to the beach."

Downing agrees. He's all for the easy relaxed look of flats that can even flatter a chic chemise dress. And with nonseasonal dressing more common, he says, flat sandals are a wise investment because they can be excellent transitional shoes, worn into fall's early months.

Our Tory Burch Outlet is one of the agent companies who produce Tory Burch Shoes. To ensure the quantity of the order we usually make more  than the company asked. Like if the company wants 8000 pair of shoes we would produce 9000, and after we sending out the items required we put the rest of Tory Burch Sale and hold a huge discount.
