How to Setup Car Stereos
- 1). Open the hood of the vehicle and disconnect the battery. This will provide a safe work environment for both equipment and the installer.
- 2). Pry off the dash around the head unit using a flathead screwdriver very carefully. Unscrew the two mounting brackets for the existing stereo head unit. Remove the head unit and un-clip all the wires from the unit.
- 3). Connect all the wires to the new head unit. Connect one end of the RCA cables to the new head unit. Insert the new head unit into the dash and screw it in using the brackets. Replace the dash trim. Run the RCA cables to the trunk of the car. Connect the RCA cables to the "Audio In" on the amplifier.
- 4). Connect speaker wire to the positive terminal on a subwoofer; connect the other end of that wire to the positive speaker output terminal on the amplifier. Connect speaker wire to the negative terminal on the subwoofer; connect the other end of that wire to the negative speaker output terminal on the amplifier. Repeat this process for each subwoofer.
- 5). Connect a power wire to the power 12v + terminal on the amplifier. Connect another power wire to the negative or ground terminal on the amplifier. Run these cables to the car's battery or fuse box. Connect each wire to their respective terminals on the battery (positive with positive; negative with negative.)
- 6). Reattach the battery to the car's power supply again. Turn on the car and test the new stereo.
