Coming Soon to Video DVD - New DVDs for 08-21-07

The Lives of Others DVD

This German-language drama won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film.
The story opens in 1984 East Germany, five years before the Berlin Wall came down. Exercising considerable control over the citizenry is a pervasive secret police known as the Stasi. The key character in the movie is Stasi Capt. Gerd Wiesler (Ulrich Mühe), who ends up conducting surveillance on a successful playwright (Sebastian Koch) and his live-in girlfriend (Martina Gedeck). Wiesler soon finds himself in a moral quandary.

Perfect Stranger DVD

Halle Berry and Bruce Willis star in this thriller. Rowena (Berry) is a journalist whose friend Grace is found dead. Grace had had a relationship with advertising mogul Harrison Hill (Willis), and Rowena decides to investigate.
She poses as a temp and gets a job at Hill's agency, where she flirts with him. Also, under a different assumed identity, Rowena chats flirtatiously with Hill online. As she pursues her investigation, Rowena gets help from a computer wizard (Giovanni Ribisi) who has a crush on her. Selected DVD Special Features:

The Ultimate Gift DVD

Based on Jim Stovall's novel, this drama was released by Fox Faith. The central character is Jason (Drew Fuller from TV's Charmed), a spoiled, self-obsessed young man who lives off a trust fund. But when Jason's billionaire grandfather dies, the young man learns that to receive his inheritance he must complete a series of tasks. Doing the tasks teaches him some important life lessons, and along the way he meets a leukemia patient (Abigail Breslin) and her single mom (Ali Hillis).
