How to Remove the Radio From a 1988 Honda Accord
- 1). Lift the Accord's hood and disconnect the negative battery cable clamp from the negative battery terminal. The cable is black and connects the negative battery terminal to the frame of the Honda for the purpose of grounding the electrical system. Loosen the cable's clamp with the wrench and lift it straight from the battery terminal lead post. Set the cable aside. Move to the inside of the Accord.
- 2). Remove the two bolt screws from the sides of the gray box under the center of the dashboard with a 10-mm socket and ratchet. Allow the box to drop to the floor, out of the way for the stereo removal.
- 3). Remove the two screws from the stereo bracket. The screws are located under the dashboard and can be removed with a Phillips-head screwdriver.
- 4). Grab the face of the factory stereo and pull it straight from the Honda's dashboard. Disconnect the stereo wiring and antenna cable connected to the rear panel of the factory head unit.
