How to Clean Stucco Stains From Metal Window Frames
- 1). Clean the metal thoroughly with soapy water. Use mild dish soap and a microfiber cloth, which will keep the finish from becoming scratched. Rinse the metal thoroughly with fresh water. Allow it to air dry, or dry it with microfiber cloths.
- 2). Wipe down the metal and clean the stains with a microfiber cloth and mineral spirits. Mineral spirits has toxic properties--wear latex gloves to prevent absorption through the skin. Avoid inhalation of the fumes.
- 3). Apply the protective coating with a clean, microfiber cloth or a paintbrush. Dunk the cloth or brush in the solution and wring it out so that it is evenly but not excessively dampened. This will ensure adequate, streak-free application. The protective coating is self-leveling and does not need to be rubbed or buffed. Apply in long, smooth strokes. Continue to wear gloves to avoid skin contact, and avoid inhalation.
- 4). Allow the coating to dry for one day. Apply two to three additional coats as needed to create a nice luster and protective coating. Allow each coat to dry for one day before adding another.
