    • 1). Spread moisture barrier underlayment along the edge of the room where you want to start the flooring, spreading it down right over the cement slab. Cut to fit with a razor knife.

    • 2). Lay the first floor board on the underlayment at one end, along the wall, putting two spacers between the board and the wall to hold it slightly out.

    • 3). Snap the second board off the end of the first, linking them by their fittings. Put spacers between the second board and the wall. Continue building along the wall with the first course of boards, putting spacers all along the wall as you go.

    • 4). Cut the last board to fit at the end, using your miter saw.

    • 5). Connect the next course of course alongside the first, snapping them together along their long sides, then sliding the ends of the boards together. Repeat for the subsequent courses, arranging the boards so the ends don't line up between the courses. Cut the last boards of each course on the miter saw as needed.

    • 6). Work across the whole floor, spreading out more underlayment as needed. Length-cut the final course of boards on your table saw to fit alongside the ending wall with a 3/8-inch space left there.

    • 7). Measure the edges of the floor and cut pieces of pre-finished trim to fit, using your miter saw. Attach the trim to the walls (not the floor) with your trim nailer, covering up the spaces around the perimeter of the room.
