    • 1). Open a new document in Word 2007 by selecting the Office Button and clicking on “New.” Choose a “Blank document” from the “Blank and recent” templates and click “Create.”

    • 2). Insert the text and images you want to include in your stationery. To place a logo into the header, Click the “Insert” tab and select “Header” from the ribbon. Choose the header style you want to use from the drop-down list. Then click on “Picture,” still in the Insert ribbon, and choose an image file from the resulting dialog.

    • 3). Reposition the logo by selecting “Format” and “Position” from the Ribbon. Choose “Position in Top Left with Square Text Wrapping,” then drag the logo where you want it to appear in the header. Click outside the logo to deselect it, then type in your text. To spice up your stationery, you can add a border to your page as well.

    • 4). Click the “Page Layout” tab, then “Page Borders” from the Ribbon to add a border. The “Borders and Shading” dialog box will open. Click on the “Page Border” tab and choose your border style. To use an image-based border, click on the “Art” drop-down and scroll through the designs. Then select the border you want to use and press “OK.”

    • 5). Double-click on the body of your document (outside the header section) to return to the main page. Then add in any other information you want the stationery to include.

    • 6). Open the “Developer” tab in the Ribbon by clicking on the Office Button and selecting “Word Options.” Select “Show Developer tab in the Ribbon” under the “Popular” category and press “OK.”

    • 7). Click on the “Developer” tab and expand the “Legacy Tools” button in the “Controls” group. Click the “Text Form Field” to insert the field you want to add. You should see a shaded area by the insertion point. (You can make the shaded area visible by clicking on the “Form Field Shading” button under “Legacy Forms”).

    • 8). Double-click the shaded area to edit the text field. The “Text Form Field Options” dialog box will open. Type the “Default text” you want to display. Then press “OK.” The default text will be added to your page.

    • 9). Insert additional fields you want to include. Once you are finished, protect the fields by selecting “Protect Document” and “Restrict Formatting and Editing” from the “Developer” tab. The “Restrict Formatting and Editing” pane will open on the right.

Go to the “Editing Restrictions” section of the pane. Place a check mark next to “Allow only this time of editing in the document” and select “Filling in forms” from the drop-down list. Then choose “Yes, Start Enforcing Protection” from section three. The “Start Enforcing Protection” dialog box will open. Enter a password and confirm it (or leave it blank), then press “OK.”

Select the Office Button, then choose “Save As” and “Word Template” to save the stationery. The “Word Template” file format will be selected for you in the "Save As" dialog box. Name the file and click on “Save.”
