How to Apply Oil Sealer to Raw Wood Floors
- 1). Mix a solution of half wood oil sealer with half citrus solvent. The solvent will dilute the oil and increase the penetration and drying time.
- 2). Sweep and clean off any dirt and debris from the floor. You want the raw wood to be as clean as possible.
- 3). Dip the clean rag into the wood oil sealer solution and squeeze out any excess.
- 4). Rub the oil sealer onto the raw wood, following the grain. This will maximize the amount of sealer absorbed into the wood.
- 5). Wait about an hour for the first coat of sealer to dry, then apply a second coat of the oil wood sealer. Allow the second coat to dry a complete 24 hours before allowing foot traffic back onto the floor.
