How to Remove Carpet Tape From a Wood Floor
- 1). Spray a liberal amount of WD40 on the carpet tape; the object is to coat the tape without leaving a pool of penetrating oil on the floor. Work in a two foot area at a time; let the WD40 stand for 15 minutes.
- 2). Scrape the tape up with a plastic putty knife, being careful not to gouge or scratch the wood. Once you have the edge lifted, pull the remaining tape up by hand.
- 3). Soak a paper towel or rag with more WD40 to cover a spot the size of a quarter. Place the wet spot over your fingertip and rub the remaining adhesive. The last vestiges of carpet tape will easily come up from the floor.
- 4). Buff the area gently with a clean rag or paper towel to remove any remaining oil residue.
