How do I Apply Dead Raggedy Ann Makeup?
- 1). Apply a layer of foundation of your choice to even out your skin tone and provide a base for the rest of your make up to stick. For the pale death-like skin, use a tone that is one or two shades lighter than your skin tone. Using a makeup sponge, dab small dots of foundation along your cheekbones, forehead, nose tip and jawbone. Use the sponge to gently blend the foundation over your face, do not rub into other areas, instead dabbing it with the sponge.
- 2). Blend the foundation to at least your chin line and then apply a powdered foundation with a large blush brush to the rest of your exposed skin. This will vary depending on your skin and the overall look you wish to achieve.
- 3). Follow up with a layer of powder foundation applied with a large blush brush to lock in the foundation and prevent shine. Do not apply blush. Blush adds a healthy glow to the skin and you are trying to go for a dead look: think pale and gothic.
- 1). Start with the eyebrows. Raggedy Ann's brows are small, making her innocent eyes appear large. You can either use your foundation to conceal as much of your own brows as possible, although this will probably look messy. Instead, use an eyeliner pencil or powder eye shadow and color your eyebrows with a dark black. The design can be straightforward and mimic your own eyebrow line or can create angular lines to incorporate your own version of Raggedy Ann.
- 2). Frame your eyes by applying a thick layer of black eye shadow around your eyes. Cover the entire lower lid with black. Use an angled brush to apply eye shadow underneath the eye as well. The traditional Raggedy Ann has four little watermelon seed-shaped dots under each eye. You can add these with eyeliner as separate markings or draw out the eye shadow to recreate the design to fit your own preference.
- 3). Line your eyes with jet black eye liner, pencil or liquid it's really up to you and your abilities since liquid eyeliner can be difficult for budding makeup artists. You can get creative and add designs to the corners of the eyes.
- 4). Apply mascara to your lashes to finish off the eyes. Remove the excess mascara from the wand by wiping the clumps off on the internal lip of the bottle. For longer lashes, use long sweeping motions from the back of the lash to the front. Apply mascara to the upper and lower set of your eyelashes and then again to the top lashes for added length. To prevent clumps, do not let the mascara dry between coats. You can apply false lashes for a full dramatic look.
- 1). Apply lip liner to the edges of your lips. This prevents lipstick from moving away from your lips, a process called feathering. If applied correctly, lip liner will create the perfect even shape for your mouth.
- 2). Use a lip liner that is the same color as your lipstick or a shade darker. Since you are going for a dead look, avoid reds and pinks or anything that gives the appearance of warmth. Instead, opt for black to match the rest of the makeup or blue for the deceased and no-longer-circulating look.
- 3). Use a lipstick brush to apply lipstick to your lips. Swipe the brush across your lipstick and apply the color to your lips in small even strokes, similar to painting.
- 4). Use the lip liner or lipstick brush to draw out the corners of your lipstick to capture the Raggedy Ann grin. Again, this line can be simple or angular to match the markings you applied to your eyebrows and under your eyes.
