How to Make Leaf Tracings on Paper
- 1). Set the leaf on the table with the bottom side up so you can see the veins and underside ridges of the leaf.
- 2). Set the white paper on top of the leaf where you want the design to be on the paper.
- 3). Hold the paper down firmly on top of the leaf. With the side of the lead on the pencil, not the pointy tip, begin to rub back and forth across the surface of the leaf. As you rub, the leaf pattern will come through onto the white paper.
- 4). Make the impression lighter or darker to your own preference. The more you go over it, the darker it will be. Don't press too hard and rip the paper.
- 5). Make repeated impressions with the same or different leaves all over the paper or just add a couple at the top of a sheet of paper for a letter or note. Experiment with different types of leaves.
