How to Draw a Captain Hat
- 1). Draw a straight line with a very slight downward curve. This will form the base of the hat.
- 2). Draw the top of the captain hat. It should curve up at first, flatten out for the brim of the hat, then curve up sharply to form the main volume of the hat. Repeat this pattern on the opposite end of the hat brim.
- 3). Add depth to the hat. Begin to repeat step two, but begin your line a bit to the right of the hat brim. Join this line with the apex of the top of the hat. This makes the hat look three-dimensional.
- 4). Embellish your hat design. Maybe your captain has seen many battles out at sea and his hat has borne the brunt of these struggles; draw a patch or two onto the hat. Draw a small rectangle or diamond onto the hat, bordered with tiny perpendicular lines to indicate stitching. To further embellish your captain hat, add a skull-and-crossbones symbol to the front. For the skull, draw an oval with two small bumps on the side to represent the protruding jawbones. In the center of the oval, add two black holes for the eyes and one for the nose. Under the skull, draw two small bones that cross to form an "x" shape. Draw the bone by drawing a long, thin rectangle with two round bumps on each end.
