How to Make a Light Tent to Take Pictures
- 1). Place the box flat on your work surface. Position the box so the flaps are on the top and bottom.
- 2). Draw a 1 1/2-inch border around the four sides of the box.
- 3). Cut out the border with a box cutter, being careful not to cut yourself.
- 4). Open up the box and close the flaps. Cut off the flaps on the top of the box. Tape the flaps down on the outside of the box to make a floor for the light tent. Tape the flaps on the inside and outside of the box.
- 5). Glue the translucent paper to three of the sides on the outside. You can also use a thin white sheet.
- 6). Cut a long piece of Bristol board to slide into the top of the box. Cut it to the width of the box and a few inches to the height. It should land just behind the bottom front border. The board will be a clean backdrop for taking pictures. Poster board with the matte finish facing out or construction paper may also work.
- 7). Place an object to photograph into the light tent. Cover the top of the box with a sheet of the translucent paper or a white sheet. Take practice shots and experiment with changing the height and location of the desk lamp.
