The Power of References
There is always a way out regardless of the setting you're in. In fact, they are often multiple avenues of escape.
So, what keeps people in bondage?
The Bible say in Hosea that "my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge". Whether it's a series of poverty, addiction, corrupt relationships, poor health, or anything else that is holding people in bondage, the solution is in knowledge.
The Power of References
References can be from experience, conversations, lectures, books, television, or anywhere you obtain your information. This is one of the reasons that it is so important to be careful what you watch or listen to. These references provide the data that we use to make decisions.
Our mind literally does operate on the principle of Garbage In, Garbage Out (GIGO). Personally, I would like to change the meaning to Good In, Good Out. Part of improving your decisions, thus your options is limiting the garbage that you allow to come into your heart. For example, no one does drugs until they know they exist and where to get them. They have a reference that drug use is possible.
By the same token, the opposite is true. The more good knowledge that someone can acquire, the more references they have to model good behavior. If someone is raised in poverty, they may be completely unaware of the power of time and wealth. Consider the Latte Factor, just $5 a day can make anyone a millionaire. When you become aware that something is possible, then its just a matter of learning how to make it work for you. broadening your references gives you options. No matter what you're facing, you're in a better position if you have more references to use in your decisions.
How Do You Acquire References?
There are numerous methods to buy references. Here are a few:
* Personal Experience
* Other People
* Media (Books, TV, Newspapers, etc.)
Thus, if you want to remove limitations, add more references. By doing more, meeting more people, and reading more books, you will have more options than you ever imagined.
