    • 1). Remove the old vanity and sink by turning off the water supply and disconnecting supply lines from sink. Place a bucket under pipes for any overflow or dripping. Use a utility knife to score around the edges of the vanity top that may have previously been caulked.

    • 2). Take out any screws attaching the vanity top to the base cabinet or wall studs. Place the pry bar under the edge of the vanity top and use leverage to remove it.

    • 3). Repair any wall damage that may have occurred. Apply joint compound with a trowel on the damaged areas and smooth. Repeat if needed. Let dry, then sand smooth.

    • 4). Place the new vanity top onto the base cabinet and check to see if it is level. Lift the vanity and line the edges of the base cabinet and nailer with a bead of construction adhesive. Set the vanity in place and apply pressure downward. Be sure the backside is butted up to the wall as close as possible. Screw the vanity top to the base cabinet nailer and into wall studs for stability.

    • 5). Install the sink and faucets. If your new vanity has a molded or attached sink, you will have to install the faucet before affixing the vanity top. If the new vanity has a separate sink, you will have to install the vanity surface and faucet before putting the sink into the vanity top.

    • 6). Caulk edges around the sink and along the vanity top and walls to seal and prevent water from being trapped around the edges of your new vanity tip. Reattach the water supply lines and turn the water back on.
