How do I Make Perfume in a Laboratory?
- 1). Cut the cardboard into two squares four inches to a side. Wrap the squares tightly in aluminum foil.
- 2). Spread shortening on one side of each square to an even depth of 1/4 inch.
- 3). Gently press 1/4 cup flower petals into the shortening on each square. Lay one square on top of the other, shortening sides together, to create a sort of sandwich.
- 4). Wrap the sandwich in paper towels and place a large book on top. Leave the sandwich and book in a dark place where they will not be disturbed for 24 hours.
- 5). When the day has passed, carefully remove the petals from the shortening. Scrape together the shortening into a ball and place it in the top of a double boiler.
- 6). Fill the bottom half of the double boiler with water. Melt the shortening gently in the top half, being careful not to burn or cook the shortening.
- 7). Add two teaspoons of ethyl alcohol. Stir them together with the stirring rod and allow the mixture to cool. Once it has cooled, pour it into a small jar with a screw-top lid. Leave it in a cool dark place for one week.
- 8). Add 1/2 cup distilled water to the mixture after one week. Stir thoroughly.
