    The Basic Dresser Scarf

    • 1). Measure the top of your dresser to determine the amount of material needed based on the amount of coverage you want.. Add 2 inches to the width and 2 inches to the length measurements.

    • 2). Purchase lightweight cotton material using your measurements. Double your measurements to determine the amount of lace you need and choose a needle and thread to match your material. Select and purchase your decorative iron-on applications.

    • 3). Fold a 1-inch hem around your material. Iron the fold flat using a dry iron. Sew around the hem to secure in place.

    • 4). Cut your lace to go around 3 sides of your scarf, the short ends and the outward facing side. Pin the inner edge of the lace to the underside of the selected sides of the scarf. Sew the lace in place.

    • 5). Decide on the placement of your decorative applications. Follow the directions carefully, keeping the iron at the proper heat.
