  Tiki parties are similar to Hawaiian parties but with more of a Caribbean feel to them, so make the distinction in decorating. Tiki torches and tiki statues are a must at this kind of party and you must serve tropical foods that you find on the islands, like coconut shrimp.
  
  

Invitations

• For your invitations, get them in the shape of a a tiki head. Write something on it like "It's Tiki Time." Put the important information like date, time, and if people should bring anything with them. For example, if it is a pool party, put that people should bring their bathing suits and towels with them. You can find these invitations at any local party store.
  
  

Decorations

• For the decorations, start with tiki torches and statues of tiki men. These are very important to the decor and help separate it from a luau party. The tiki statues can be different sizes and colors, so scatter them around your party. Put grass skirts around your party tables and floating tiki candles in the pool. Place bird of paradise centerpieces on all the tables.
  
  

Food and Drink

• Have some signature foods and drinks at this event. For example, make some coconut shrimp skewers on the barbecue and also grill some pineapple. Have a tropical fruit bowl that is made out of one half (or use both halves) of a watermelon. Include watermelon, pineapple, guava, mango and cherries. Place skewers next to these bowls so that everyone can make their own fruit kebabs. Serve a tropical signature drink. For example, make a Mai Tai (virgin if this is a kid's party) and call it a Tiki Tai.
  
  

Favors

• For your party favors, send people home with hula skirts, tiki drinking glasses, sunglasses and beach hats. Give them to people as they come into your party so they can use the items while they are hanging out, especially if it is an outdoor party.
