The cell phone has made strides to replace many other electronics, including the MP3 player and, of course, the home phone. There are times, however, when having a home phone is still appropriate. When you need one, make sure you to choose a cordless phone that has all the features you need. - As the name suggest, cordless phones operate without the use of a cord running to the base. They do this by utilizing wireless frequencies. New DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) phones operate on the 1.9 GHz frequency and offer the least interference. That is because this specific frequency is reserved especially for cordless phones.
- Cordless phones come in both analog and digital versions. A digital cordless phone is far more secure since it scrambles your voice from the phone to the receiver so it cannot be intercepted easily. DECT phones also offer their own form of encryption and authentication that deters an unwanted listener.
- Cordless phones are becoming smaller thereby increasing their portability. This could, however, make them harder to rest on your shoulder during a call. Most phones now come with a visible caller-ID screen, which is usually black and white, with some models offering color LCD. Even though most phones come in either white or black, you may be able to find a different color with a good search.
