How to Build a 6 X 8 Fish House
- 1). Gather the rocks you will use as the foundation for your house. You can find many different types of rocks at your local pet store or you can use rocks you found elsewhere.
- 2). Disinfect the rocks before putting them in your aquarium. Scrub the each stone, top and bottom, with soap under warm running water. Next, put the rocks in a bowl of cool water. Lastly, boil them in a pot of water for 10 minutes to excise any left over bacteria.
- 3). Start building the fish house. Get two large rocks that are roughly the same size and height. Then find another rock that can act as the roof for the house. Place each of the tall rocks onto their sides and use a generous amount of sealant to adhere the roof rock to the tops of the tall rocks. Hold this in place for a few minutes to ensure the bond sets between the rocks. Add more rocks behind the others if you want to make a bigger cave or house.
- 4). Place the house against the back of the aquarium if you wish to create an enclosure. You can also place the house in the middle of the aquarium, if you want your fish to swim through it.
