HDMI Switches That Can Do Blu-Ray

High-Definition Media Interface, or HDMI, switches allow users to connect multiple high definition sources to a single television. Users can then surf between sources using a remote control or manually. HDMI switches are enabled for disc players such Blu-ray and HD-DVD, high definition computer feeds, HD video game consoles like Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 -- the latter of which is capable of playing Blu-ray discs -- and video projectors. HDMI cables are required to connect a switch to an HDTV. - The Radiient Select-4™ Four-Input HDMI Switch is a Blu-ray compatible HDMI switch enabled for 1080p high definition resolution. According to the official Radiient website, the switch is designed such that it will be adaptable to future standard resolutions greater than the 1080p standard in 2010. The HDMI switch has four ports for video sources and input and output cables as long as fifty feet for remote connectivity. Radiient asserts that all of its HDMI switches are manufactured in the Silicon Valley by the co-inventor of HDMI chip technology.
- Iogear's four-port HDMI is enabled to work with universal remote controls for assimilation into home entertainment systems. The unit is recommended for use with Blu-ray players, media PCs, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles and comes packaged with an HDMI cable. The Iogear HDMI switch is designed so that users can move between HD sources without turning any of them off. Thus, multiple sources can be running video simultaneously and users can surf through these sources without pause.
- Belkin's PureAV HDMI Interface 3-to-1 Video Switch is a Blu-ray compatible HDMI switch. Online technology magazine CNET recommends the Belkin PureAV HDMI Switch for users on the market for a proficient product that is easy to install and requires little technological know-how to operate. The unit is small and only offers users three switches, as opposed to the four or five more commonly found on comparable units. However, it is capable of processing any and all HD audio and visual information, including 1080p video and uncompressed audio.
- The Advanced 3x1 HDMI Switch is a three-port HDMI switch recommended for use with Blu-ray players, high definition video game consoles and cable or satellite receivers. According to the official product description, the Oppo unit passes the HDMI 1.3 certification test, meaning that it is capable of displaying HD video at 1080p resolution and high definition PC information at resolutions as large 1920 by 1200 pixels. Strangely, Oppo points out that the unit will only perform at optimal functionality in temperatures between 41 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
