How to Design Your Own Alphabet Letter Outline
- 1). Print out an enlarged shape of an alphabet letter using your word processor, for example the letter A. Use a simple, standard font, such as Times New Roman or Arial. Enlarge the font to about 150-200 percent to ensure the letter will be large enough to work with.
- 2). Add unique design elements to the basic shape of the letter using a pencil around the printed letter. For example, you may add flourishes to the top and the ends of the letter A so that it looks like a flower. Or you might add sharp points to all of the tips of the letter to create a stark letter style. Repeat this step with as many alphabet letters as you need for your project.
- 3). Place a sheet of acetate over the alphabet letter you designed. Trace over the letter design and onto the acetate using a fine point permanent marker.
- 4). Place the sheet of acetate onto an old piece of wood board or on an old magazine. Use a craft knife to carefully cut out the shape of the letter. Remember to remove the inner sections of letters such as A, P or B.
- 5). Use the alphabet letter outline for multiple projects. Simply place the letter where you want the shape to go and trace around the outline.
