Many of the recycling containers are the plain blue bins with the chasing arrow.
However, you can find more attractive recycling containers on the market.
You can find some attractive container for public areas and for your home.
Many of these containers are multi-sectioned, so each section can be used for a different recyclable material with a total separate container for trash.
Or you can use one section for trash and the other two for recyclable material.
You can get the one, which stands alone for cans.
It can be left clear or you can have your schools logo painted on it or some other eye-catching design.
When you find a recycling container outdoors, 9 times out of 10 the container is for out soda cans.
Aluminum cans are one of the most recyclable metals.
It can be recycled over and over again.
As Americans we throw away enough aluminum cans to rebuild American's commercial airplanes every 6 months.
It is one of the few recyclables, which can be recycled into the same product it came from.
In fact it only takes 60 days for the aluminum cans to be recycled and put back on the shelf ready for purchase.
Creating an aluminum can from recycled aluminum uses 95% less energy than to make one from raw material.
Because is takes less energy, it also has 95% less emissions.
Recycling aluminum is good for the environment and recycling 40 cans conserves the same amount of energy as one gallon of gas, to run a television for 3 hours, or to burn a 100-watt light bulb for 4 hours.
Even with recycling of aluminum cans on the rise, there are still over 1 trillion aluminum beer cans and soda cans have been thrown away in the last three decades.
During the first two decades cans being recycled improved, but in the last decade the percentage has decreased from about 65% in 1992 to about 48% in 2002.
We should do a better job of recycling than we are.
We can save so much energy and help prevent some more damages to the environment.
Aluminum mining and manufacturing causes some of this damage, which includes the release of tens of millions of tons of pollutants into the air and water pollutants into the water.
We need to keep in mind children learn by what they see.
You can teach them to recycle or you can teach them to ignore the problem.
The problem will end up in someone's lap.
If not our children or our grandchildren, them maybe it will be our great-grandchildren who is left to clean up our mess.
Recycling containers are becoming more and more commonplace and they can be found in many places you wouldn't have found them in the past.
Even if you don't believe in global warming you have to be aware of our landfills being filled to capacity.
If we don't learn to do something with out trash, we will find ourselves living with it all around us along with the other problems, which accompany trash bugs, rats, the smell, etc.
Which would you rather do live with trash or do something about it?
