How to Design a Grape Stake Fence
Things You'll Need
Instructions
1Dig post holes 7 to 8 feet apart, 1 foot deep. As grapevines are strong plants and fast growers, you will want a sturdy post for your stakes.
2
Set the posts in concrete and allow concrete to dry. Make sure your posts are standing straight. You can bury the post in hard-packed dirt without the concrete, but they may begin to lean over time. And if you opt to plant the post without concrete, you may need additional guide wires on the end posts to help anchor them.
3
Staple the bottom wire across the posts at approximately 3 feet from the ground. You may wish to wrap the wire around the post then staple for additional hold.
4
Staple the top wire across the fence posts at approximately 2 feet above the bottom wire. Again, you may wish to wrap wire around each pole while stringing it across. This leaves about 1 foot of fence post above the top wire.
5
Plant the grapevines exactly between the posts--not at the posts. Plant only one grapevine between any two posts.
