How to Make a Calder Mobile
- 1). Trace around a bowl, a glass and a mug on poster board. Repeat this so you have six circles in three different sizes.
- 2). Color the circles on both sides with black, red and yellow markers.
- 3). Punch a hole in the top of each circle.
- 4). Cut a wire hanger at the corners with wire cutters. Thread a paper circle onto one side of the hanger. Using needle-nose pliers, bend the end of the hanger into a loop so that it acts as a hook for the paper circle. Do the same for the other side of the hanger.
- 5). Bend the straight wire that you cut away from the hanger into a wide V shape.
- 6). Thread a paper circle onto the V-shaped wire. Bend the end of the wire into a hook for the paper circle. Do the same for the other end of the wire.
- 7). Tie the center of the V-shaped wire to the center of the hanger top with a piece of string. Make sure the string is long enough so that the V-shaped wire floats freely and does not touch the other circles.
- 8). Cut apart a second hanger to get another straight wire. Make a second V-shaped wire with circles attached. Hang this below the first V-shaped wire using a string long enough so that the second V-shaped wire floats freely and does not touch the other circles.
