    Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Scholarships

    • Zeta Phi Beta Sorority scholarships are awarded to qualifying students in amounts that range from $500 to $1,000 as of March, 2011; scholarships cover the costs of tuition for one year. To receive the scholarships, students must major in a graduate education program at an accredited United States college or university and attend school full-time. Students who are not members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority are allowed to receive the scholarships. College transcripts and three letters of recommendation must accompany scholarship applications. Professors, community leaders, employers and ministers can write the recommendation letters. The number of scholarships awarded each year varies.

    Graduate Scholarship Cohort Program

    • Classroom teachers who want to return to college or university to receive an advanced degree can apply for a New York City Department of Education (NYC DOE) Graduate Cohort Program Scholarship. To receive the scholarship, they are required to teach science, physics, math, chemistry, biology or English as a second language at the secondary school level. Additionally, scholarship recipients must attend New York's Adelphi University, Mercy College or Fordham University. Each year the number and amount of the scholarships varies. However, scholarships do cover the cost of full-time tuition.

    Ruth McLain Memorial Scholarship

    • If classroom teachers major in early childhood or elementary education at accredited United States colleges and universities, they can apply for a Ruth McLain Memorial Scholarship. They must demonstrate a financial need to receive the scholarship. Money from the scholarship covers tuition, books and lab fees. The amount and number of scholarships awarded each year varies.

    Barbara Lotze Scholarships for Future Teachers

    • The Barbara Lotze Scholarship for Future Teachers is available for high school seniors and college students who want to work as physics teachers in U.S. classrooms. The American Association of Physics Teachers sponsors and distributes the scholarships. As of March, 2011, the amount of a Barbara Lotze Scholarship for Future Teachers scholarship was $2,000. The number of scholarships awarded each year varies. High school students who earn high scores in their physics classes can increase their chances of receiving a scholarship.
