Instructions for Installing a Skimmer System on an Above Ground Pool
- 1). Lower the water level in the above ground pool to a few inches below the opening of the skimmer.
- 2). Hole the skimmer up to the outer wall in the desired location. Trace around it with a permanent marker. Some skimmers come with a template for his purpose. Put the template on the wall and trace the location of the opening and the screw holes.
- 3). Cut out the opening for the pool skimmer, following the drawn lines. Insert the razor or knife deep enough to cut through the wall and pool lining.
- 4). Drill holes where the screws will go. These spots are indicated on the template. Put place-holding screws into the holes to keep the vinyl lining from pulling down due to the weight of the water.
- 5). Line the skimmer up on the outer pool wall, using the screw holes as markers. Put the rubber seal between the skimmer and wall. Remove the place-holding screws and insert the real screws from the inside the pool. They should reach through the lining and wall, into the skimmer.
- 6). Put the rubber liner between the skimmer faceplate and the pool lining, on the inside of the pool. Line up the screw holes with the faceplate. Put the screws through the faceplate, rubber liner and pool wall, going all the way into the skimmer. Tighten securely.
- 7). Add more water to the anove ground pool until the level is halfway up the faceplate of the skimmer.
