How to Determine Tablecloth Size
- 1). Measure the dimensions of your table. For a rectangular table, measure the length and width of the table. For circular tables, measure the diameter, or the distance across the table. For oval tables, measure the long diameter and the short diameter.
- 2). Determine the amount of drop you want on the edges of your table. According to Decorating with Lace, 15 inches is a very formal setting while 8 inches is less formal. The drop should be at least 5 inches.
- 3). Multiply the drop by 2, and add it to the dimensions of your table. For example, if you have a rectangular table that measures 36x50 inches and you want a 10-inch drop, add 20 to 36 and add 20 to 50 to find that you need a tablecloth that measures 56x70 inches.
