How to Bend PVC Plastic
- 1). Place a heat strip on a stable surface. Set the temperature control between 230-374 degrees. Plug in the heater and turn it on.
- 2). Wipe the front and back surfaces of the PVC with a clean rag. Mark the bend location on one side of the PVC with a paint marker. Using pens or pencils to mark plastic will cause a depression on the surface of PVC and should be avoided to avoid marring the plastic.
- 3). Lay the marked piece of PVC flat on top of the heater strip. Allow the plastic to heat for 10 minutes. Pull one edge of the plastic away from the heater. Allow the plastic to remain on the heat strip for an additional 10 minutes if it requires pressure to bend the PVC.
- 4). Remove the PVC from the heater. Align the outside corner of a framing square with the heated section of the PVC. Pull the plastic toward the framing square. Hold the plastic in position for 3 minutes or until it remains in place after it is released.
