    • 1). Cut your fiberboard to 4-feet long by 2-feet wide. Cut two 52-inch long pieces of pine. Cut two 24-inch long pieces of pine. Cut four 16-inch pieces of poplar.

    • 2). Sand all pine and poplar to make sure there are no jagged edges, but do not sand the fiberboard. Wipe the boards with a damp rag to remove the sawdust.

    • 3). Prime all of the pieces with a roller and allow to dry for one hour. Paint the pieces with the color and design of your choice. Allow the paint to dry overnight.

    • 4). Cut four poplar pieces to 2 and ½ inches. Place these on the floor then set your fiberboard on them face up. Apply glue to the short edges of the fiberboard then place the 2-feet long pine pieces onto the fiberboard, place the bottom edge of the pine pieces on the floor giving you a 2 and 3/4-inch lip above the fiberboard and a 2 and ½-inch skirt below the fiberboard. Nail the pine pieces into place with a nail gun.

    • 5). Apply glue to the long edges of the fiberboard and end pieces of the pine sidepieces you just attached. Using the same method you used when attaching the sidepieces, attach the 52-inch long front and back pieces. After nailing the pieces into place, clamp the table on each end. Wipe any excess glue with a damp rag. Allow the glue to dry completely for at least one hour.

    • 6). Place a painter's cloth on the ground and flip the table face down. Apply wood glue to each inside corner then place one 16-inch post in each corner, making the legs for your table. Nail the legs into place and allow them to dry one hour.

    • 7). Fill any nail holes with wood putty; allow the putty to dry then sand smooth. Touch up the paint in the areas you filled. Allow the paint to dry for at least one hour.

    • 8). Apply two coats of polyurethane to the table with a foam brush; take care to avoid the polyurethane pool in any edges. Allow each coat to dry before applying another.
