A Better Mindset Makes A Better Business

103 20
Having a better business does just mean having the best training, best mentorship or the best business model.
It's also about having a better mindset and a better mindset makes a better business.
A better mindset separates the three percent successors from the rest of the "business owners.
" A colleague of mine shared with me a personal story about a co-worker he knew long ago when he worked at a commercial refrigerator plant.
The man's name was Pete and everyone knew him for being the hardest worker in the company, but Pete was also known for his negativity.
He would complain to his supervisor daily about how other employees talked more than they worked, didn't show up on time or didn't work as hard as he did.
One Friday Pete's boss decided to let everyone leave early for the weekend.
However, Pete was so dedicated to his work that before he left for the weekend he wanted to re-check his work in one of the refrigerators.
It wasn't until everyone had left for the weekend when Pete entered the refrigerator and the door accidentally swung shut behind him, locking him inside.
Pete immediately panicked and started banging on the doors until his hands bled.
It wasn't until Pete realized that no one would be back to the factory for three full days that his pessimism peaked to its fullest.
After a while he quit banging on the door, hoping for the possibility that someone might hear him, and instead he started to think about how long he would be able to survive the frigid temperatures of the gigantic corporate cooler.
When Pete thought he couldn't do anymore to get out of the refrigerator, he sat down and accepted his fate.
When everyone returned to the factory after the long weekend they found Pete in the refrigerator with his last thoughts written on his shirt.
His shirt read how he didn't know how he would survive the cold and how he wished he had enjoyed life more.
The factory manager was informed that the temperature inside the refrigerator had only been 68 degrees and not only had the refrigerator never been turned on, but the power line wasn't even connected.
Pete, as healthy and hard-working as any of the other employees at the plant, had died from his own negativity.
Because Pete always had a negative mindset the thought never entered his mind that he could survive the weekend without food, water or the temperature of a cooler he thought was turned on.
His negative thoughts created negative actions and those actions produced negative results.
As a business owner you face this same situation every day.
We all know there is a difference between owning a business and dying, but the same principles apply.
If you were presented with the scenario that you, or someone you love dearly, would pass away if your business didn't succeed then wouldn't you do everything humanly possible to ensure success and prevent failure? That's the opportunity you have with a successful business; the chance to save someone, save yourself from being trapped alone in a refrigerator.
But this can only be accomplished with a mind void of negativity, even on coldest days.
Listen to inspiration recordings, watch inspiration movies, surround yourself with inspirational people.
Build and maintain a positive mindset and you will find yourself among the three percent of true business owners.
