As an internet marketer you will need to learn how the internet works when it comes to establishing a successful business.
As in any business environment, the Internet has some unwritten rules that would be a good idea to abide by.
One of the first rules to consider is that the Internet has a certain kind of vibe to it.
The original purpose of the internet was to communicate and connect with people and information.
Trying to invade this space with all sales guns blazing might not be the right approach.
Communicate, connect and offer values.
This is a much better approach and will provide you with better sales in the long run.
The Internets main characteristic is that we are never a physical presence.
This means our normal way of interacting with people face-to-face falls by the wayside.
The only way we can get to know somebody online is by listening to what they are saying.
Being a good listener is therefore something everybody needs to become especially good at if you would like to be a successful marketer.
As much as you need to listen to what others are saying, it also comes down to what you are saying.
Remember the rule that says you should be real.
People want to hear the real you, your authentic voice.
If you can do that, you will find success in your MLM marketing efforts.
The internet is about listening and speaking and then about completing the conversation which is responding.
Whether you respond to a complaint by a customer or to a comment somebody has left on your blog.
Taking time to respond is an important element in building an online relationship with your audience.
To further nurture your relationships it is important to add value.
What can you offer to the people you come in contact with? When you talk to people on Twitter or on Facebook, when you offer somebody advice or support are you offering value or are you promoting yourself and your business? Of course sometimes your product or service could be exactly what the person might need.
It's just the approach that you take when interacting with people should be from a helpful rather than a self-promotional point of view.
The difference is noticeable.
One further important rule of the Internet deals with sharing.
Share your information and time.
The Internet is big on sharing.
That's in fact what its purpose was when it started, it was a vehicle for sharing information and saving other people time.
This also means that spamming is totally taboo.
Spam is not relevant sharing and it wastes a huge amount of time.
It is contrary to all the internet stands for.
Finally one last internet rule is that the internet, more than any other communications tool, is ideal for giving praise and credit.
Nowhere else is it so easy to create a link to the source you used and to openly give credit to the author of the ideas, opinions, information and knowledge you are using or talking about.
The internet runs on a very straight forward rule.
Communicate, connect, and offer information and help.
That is how the internet works.
Work along those guidelines and you will have a better chance of success.
It is important for you to establish a credible voice online.
You are not a physical being on the internet.
You need to work harder to make yourself a respected participant.
One of the ways to do this is to listen more than you talk.
Make other people doing business or visiting the internet feel that they are special and that they deserve your respect and you will get it back in a likewise manner.
Listen to what others are saying and appreciate their contribution.
Respect their opinion and make a note of their concerns.
When you respond by either publishing a post, voicing an opinion as a comment on another blog or forum or posting articles elsewhere be sure to treat other people's view points with respect and show that their well being is important to you.
The internet is strong on conversations.
Listening and replying are what makes the conversations meaningful.
Bringing value to the conversation by offering your information and knowledge will make the interaction more meaningful.
If you bear that in mind you will find it easier to do business on the internet and your MLM marketing will be much more successful.
Go in to contribute rather than to try and sell a product.
Sales will follow once you have built a relationship with others.
