How to Build a Tire Rack
- 1). Cut six 22-inch 2 by 4 pieces. Cut six 5-foot 2 x 4 pieces.
- 2). Position the pieces to form three 62 by 22-inch rectangular patterns (place the 22 inch pieces as the ends on the rectangles). Screw two 2 1/2-inch screws through the end 22-inch joints, do this to every corner and build all three wooden rectangles.
- 3). Cut four 6-foot 2 by 4 pieces.
- 4
Lay one rectangle flat onto the floor. Stand up a 6-foot 2 by 4 just 2 inches in from the side on a 22-inch end of the rectangle. Use a level to make sure the 6-foot 2 by 4 is level upright and clamp it into place. Screw two 3-inch screws through the 6-foot 2 by 4 into the 22-inch 2 by 4 end. Repeat these steps on the other side of this same end of the rectangle. Repeat what you did on this end of the rectangle on the other end. - 5). Lower the next wooden rectangle into the frame. Measure up 34 inches from the floor. Use the level to level the next shelf. Clamp all four 6-foot 2 by 4s into place. Screw two 3-inch screws through each of the four 6-foot 2 by 4s into the 22-inch 2 by 4 wooden rectangle ends. Repeat this step to screw the top shelf even and flush with the top of the 6-foot 2 by 4s.
